Abstract

The initiation of this work deals with the basics and possibilities of raw materials characterization regarding a comparison of the Zeisel-Method, the Bond-Test and the Method of the Optimized Comminution Sequence (Department of Mineral Processing at University of Leoben, Austria). The thesis is divided into three main parts: •Raw materials characterization •Current state analysis •Potential for optimization In the characterization of each of the raw materials which can be used in cement production, an analysis regarding the comminution properties was carried out. Clinker, slag, marl, limestone, fly ash, a blend of marl and slag and a blend of plaster and anhydrite were analysed by applying the Optimized Comminution Sequence (OCS). Main focus was put on the specific energy consumption (in terms of Rittinger equation and workindex to Bond) and the dispersity in terms of specific surface and particle size distributions in the GGS- and RRSB-graphs. The analyses included density and visual assessments. The current state analysis of the cement mill and the comminution circuit included a chemical analysis of fractionated samples, which have been taken along the grinding chambers. Based on the experimental results of the previous chapters and a literature survey, some optimization potential was identified.
