Abstract
The cement plant Untervaz of the Holcim (Switzerland) AG covers its raw material from the three quarries Haselboden, Fenza and Kleine Fenza. In each of the quarries one crusher is in operation. In the quarry Fenza the crushed material is transported into the plant by a conveyer belt via a bin which has a storage capacity of 7000 t. This bin serves as a decoupling instrument between the open pit and the plant. In the course of the proceeding exploitation the usage of this silo is not possible anymore. The location for a new crusher was fixed by Holcim. The present work includes the survey and analysis of the present conveyance system and the preparation of the raw material, which forms the base for the planning of the new material flow and thus for the needed infrastructure. In this work several flow sheets for the processing of the raw material streams are elaborated and examined. The optimum variation of material flow and conveyance, using the existing infrastructure to maximum extent, is further developed. A given mass flow of homogenized raw meal has to meet fixed values for lime saturation factor, silica- and alumina- ratio at the kiln feeder. Finally a suggestion for an interim solution and an estimation of the total costs for the final project are given.
