Abstract
In recent years thermoset nanocomposites became important, because of their high potential for significant property improvements, such as thermo-mechanical and fracture-mechanical material properties. Although promising performance enhancements have been reported in the scientific literature, their transformation to commercial applications is still lagging behind, especially concerning the engineering and technological issues. The primary goal of the present thesis was to screen the potential of commercially available nanoparticles to improve thermo-mechanical and fracture-mechanical performance properties. Moreover, the influence of nanoparticle concentration was investigated.
