Abstract

The assignment of writing a report as SIMACS final work which should have relevant to SMC business and linked to our own position inside Sandvik Mining and Construction. The topic selected for this final work is related to Mexico Surface market development as defined in the subject whom it can contribute from different perception. The first topic is about a discussion of Mexican mining market development, metal demand and trends. The second topic is about environment health and safety. About the third topic is a discussion about mining conditions, environment and an explanation of surface mining methods used in Mexican mines. Also it is included a comment about mining conditions. The following topic is about the level of mechanization and following for the position of Sandvik and business development in Mexican surface mines and its market. The next topic is how Sandvik is seen by the industry and following for a comparison between Sandvik and major competitors. At the end of this final work it is possible to see some key growth opportunities for Sandvik. The 2010 was a year relevant to the Mexican mining sector, as the productions of major precious metals, industrial metals and metal production records broken consolidating Mexico as one of the most important countries of the world mining. This boost in production enabled the value of the mining-metallurgical out of USD $13, 900 million, which means that our industry generated more foreign exchange than tourism industry which added USD $11,875 million. The role of our industry should draw attention to understand its nature; mining is an industry cycles, sometimes upward, sometimes downward. (Camimex magazine annual report 2011)
