Abstract
Bulk solids or rather the technology of bulk solids are substantial components of mechanical process technology. For a problem-free and frictionless handling of the bulk solids by transport and storage, it is important to know the properties of the bulk solids. The first part of my diploma thesis deals with these bulk solid properties, in particular the flow properties of the bulk solids. For measurement of flow properties of bulk solids various types of shear testers are listed and compared with one another. Also the measurement principle and the correct handling of the shear testers are presented. In the second part of this work based on the determined bulk solid properties, a calculation model for the layout of mass flow silos was elaborated. Also the possibility of automation and the computerized layout of mass flow silos is presented.
