Abstract

This thesis deals with a wood chip operated biomass gasification unit. The raw gas from the gasifier is cleaned in several operation steps, so that an application of the gas in a gas engine is enabled. The gas- cleaning system consists of a combination of dry and wet cleaning steps. During the wet cleaning the contaminations of the gas are transferred into the washing water. Therefore the washing water has to be cleaned in several operation steps prior to the discharge into the sewerage. The goal of this thesis is an evaluation and an improvement of the gas cleaning and the washing water treatment steps.
Several gas and water samples are taken during the operation of the gasifier with varying process parameters at different sites of the unit. They are analysed in the laboratory for their degree of pollution in order to do an evaluation of the efficiency of cleaning steps.
The aim is to improve the efficiency of the cleaning units. This is worked out by changing some parts of the unit and modifying the operations parameters. In the course of the structural alteration measures the dry cleaning is extended with a hot gas filter, the stripping column is operated with a new desorption medium, and oil seed esther is used in the wash cycle of the Venturiscrubber.
Finally the measured values are compared with one another and for this reason it was possible to do an evaluation of the efficiency of the cleaning units.
