Abstract

Due to the progress of the power electronics the use of the wind energy is taking an increasing part for the electrical power supply. First this thesis gives an overview about the types of wind power plants and the basic physical relations for the wind energy. Further the generator systems are described which are installed in Austria. Most of these wind power plants are pitch controlled. For this wind converter system a model has been implemented with the software package LabView®. Considering real wind strength values the dynamic behaviour has been investigated. The speed control is programmed as a time discrete control with a sample time of 100 ms. A converter fed DC-machine is used as power actuator which is mechanically coupled with the rotor fed generator system. The communication between the model and the converter is realised via the OPC-server interface.
The generator system includes an active and an reactive power control. Both power values can be controlled independently at variable speed operation. The control algorithm of the model and the generator system has been tested at the lab arrangement.
