Abstract
The objective of this master thesis is to develop a materials management concept for tunnel excavation material and an assessment for the potential impacts of this to the quarry Brunnen. The basis for this work represents a tunnel project, of approximately 7,3 km and the tunnel portal is a few 100 m from the quarry location of the company HOLCIM (Schweiz) AG away. The tunnel project will commence throughout 2014. Considerations regarding the usage of the tunnelling excavation material at the quarry have been made in the past. In addition to the usage of the tunnel excavation material, a large amount of material required for the tunnel construction could be produced at the quarry and sold to the tunnelling contractor company. Due to the large quantities of excavated material from the tunnel development (~2,6 Mio. tons) a number of temporary and final dump locations were assessed. Another key part of this master thesis is to plan and assess different dump strategies at the location Schönenbuch. Independent to the tunnel project mentioned above a new crusher location was assessed and planned with Surpac. This crusher location considered the future strategic excavation development at the quarry Hettis. Furthermore a number of different conveyor systems from the new crusher location to the processing plant have been identified and evaluated.
