Interdisciplinary practiced applied geosciences raise the necessity to easily access available geological data in order to recognize greater interrelation and for proper decision-making. Because data is collected for certain purposes it often results in a heterogeneous amount of data which can lead to its isolation. The aim of this master thesis was to obtain all available geological data for the specular hematite mine Waldenstein (Carinthia) and to collect additional information doing required geological mapping, drill core logging and laboratory work. All this data is stored in a new developed central database (Microsoft Access database application called GEOrganizer). The creation of this database avoids the loss of data and provides a powerful and easily accessible data management system. The geological data was extracted to create a 3d model using the mine planning software Surpac Vision. In addition it is possible to visualize drillholes, structural geological features, the geological model and the underground mine layout in 3d for further analysis. This is a major advantage compared to the existing 2d level maps of the underground mine. The implementation of the new centralized database GEOrganizer and geological 3d model will help to access and visualize data for further investigations and evaluations. It provides an expandable pool of information to answer future questions according to mining and mining geology.
