IPCC – Systems and Potential Applications in Turkish Mines

Abstract

For more than six decades continuous mining and haulage has been the predominant methodology for high capacity coal or lignite production as well as overburden removal in soft rock open pit mining. The development and innovation of better crushing technology during recent years now enables continuous mining and haulage in hard rock applications as well. Today more than 450 in-pit crushing and conveying systems are operating worldwide. The first task was to get an overview of suitable mines for IPCC in Turkey, combined their development plans for current operations and new projects in the next 15 years. Also the financial status, mining method, subcontractors must be taken in consideration and responsible persons must be contacted. The available IPCC equipment and selection criteria for IPCC are considered. This is based on documents, presentations and articles from different sources. Furthermore, the mining companies and their current operations are evaluated. Mines are selected based on their characteristics and selected parameters for IPCC potentials. A ranking is made from the remaining mines and detailed technical and economic considerations must be taken.
