Abstract

This Master thesis aims to bring together both the state of the art in global capacity planning and a practical example which was realized in cooperation with the Siemens Drive Technologies Large Drives Traction Global Manufacturing department located in Nuernberg, Germany. In the first part of the thesis the theoretical concept of global capacity planning is explained. The second part covers all relevant details concerning the global capacity planning project at Siemens such as the approach for developing capacity planning methods, the evaluation and the selection process of those methods as well as the implementation guidelines. Ultimately, the results of the first capacity planning run are presented and suggestions for the optimization of the capacity planning process are made.
