Abstract
Sachtleben Bergbau ltd. is a producer of high quality Fluorspar concentrates. The feed to the Fluorspar flotation plant consists of various Fluorspar ore types combined with products from the baryte processing plant. Due to this varying flotation feed, the high quality requirements represent constant challenges. In this master thesis, the flotation properties of various Fluorspar ores were characterized and the flotation-selectivity was analyzed depending on the process temperature. The characterization indicated differences in the flotation properties. An analysis of the flotation process showed an increase of selectivity at higher process temperatures. Additional flotation tests should enable the use of the Fluorspar-scavenger-tailings as a mid quality Fluorspar product. These tests revealed a feasible usage for the tailings. Finally, the Fluorspar flotation operation data of the last three years were analyzed in order to find a maybe occurring seasonal fluctuation of the flotation selectivity. However, the analyzed data showed no evaluable results due to fragmentary records.
