Abstract

By the intensified use of milkrun as a supply concept Volkswagen AG is expecting to counter increasing costs in sourcing and procurement. Currently, the comprehensive use of the milkrun concept is not possible, due to the necessity of a high input of economic resources for the implementation process. Based on this fact the output of this thesis is a simulation model that helps making the implementation process more efficient. At first, there is a detailed analysis of the milkrun concept itself, which provides the basis for the following development of a valid simulation model. The simulation model is characterized by its ability of adaptation, caused by the need of multi-scenario applicability. Finally, the developed simulation model is used for supporting a pilot scheme. This systematic approach does not only allow the appraisal of the potential of simulation studies for the certain circumstances but also of the milkrun concept itself.
