Abstract
In course of this master thesis an in-line slab turnover device for continuous casting plants is developed. At the beginning the state of the art is determined by a patent and literature research. The result of this research was that there are already some systems for turning over slabs on the market, but none of them can fulfil the expected requirements. This fact is deciding for developing a device which can be used as in-line slab turnover device in continuous casting plants. One of the first steps in the period of development was a brainstorming in order to generate a number of concepts. Construction and function of these concepts are described in the chapter “Ideenfindung und Konzepte”. Afterwards these concepts are evaluated by a technical analysis for their usability in practical application. Throughout this analysis a concept was chosen which is able to fulfil the expected requirements of in-line slab turnover devices. In chapter “Detaillierte Beschreibung der Konstruktion”, the structure of the chosen concept is described in detail. Additionally the supply of the hydraulic cylinders with energy is illustrated. Further, the slab overlaps are examined and a calculation of the duration of a turnover process is made. Finally the construction of the slab turnover device is calculated by the finite element method to examine the exposure of the slab weight during a turnover process on the structure of this device.
