Abstract

In the last decade fully electrical injection moulding machines are more and more used in the injection moulding market. On the difference between hydraulical and fully electrical machines some publications are available and also many investigations were carried out. But all of this work has been done for thermoplastics. Therefore an investigation was done to compare the behaviour of hydraulic and fully electrical injection moulding machines for PIM feedstocks. A special mould was designed with a thin-walled and a thick-walled cavity. With this mould parts were produced and the process parameters taken. Thus the machine behaviour and the reproducibility can be examined. Here the results of this investigation are shown together with a more detailed comparison of the hydraulic and the fully electrical injection moulding machine concepts.
