    Increasing requirements of the automotive industry with regard to weight reduction by material savings and the associated reduction in fuel consumption are promoting the use of high-strength materials. In the field of high-strength crash components with complex geometries, such as the B-pillar, press-hardening steels have proven suitable due to their high strength, good deformation behaviour and low springback. It has been shown that the characteristic values of the three-point bending test, in particular the bending angle at maximum force, correlate with the results of side impact tests. Preliminary investigations clearly show that samples of the alloy 20MnB8, hardened directly with a pre-cooling step, showed poorer bending behaviour than those of the indirectly hardened alloy 22MnB5. The aim of this master thesis was to compare these two zinc coated press-hardening steels and to explain the differences in bending behaviour.
