Abstract
The oil industry has substantially changed over the 20 years in production mechanisms and in the instruments principles to measure various kinds of the petroleum fluid properties. These measurements have a great impact on reservoir management, well performance monitoring, production forecasting, development of the field, integrated process efficiency as well as on the economics. Additionally, measurements can be used to predict problems before they are encountered. The goal of this thesis is to assess the state of the art of the experimental methods in the upstream oil industry. It also presents the measurement fluids properties along the journey from starting point till the final destination at the market of the petroleum industry. Also, highlighting the Obstacles that face some devices and influencing their reliability in the measuring accuracy. What's more, it is shown a number of opportunities to improve the quality and the accuracy of the current measurements methodologies. Future trends also analyzed to gaining a better understanding of the petroleum fluids.
