Abstract
In this research, a scheme for LNG transportation through low-pressure pipelines is presented and technologies and methods for the cryogenic liquids’ transportation are studied. In addition, the economic efficiency of the proposed technology is compared with the efficiency of LNG transportation by pumps. The approach is based on hydraulic and thermodynamic calculations. The scheme of a cryogenic product transportation from a storage tank to a transport tank is introduced, parameters of a perforated baffle for separation of LNG vapors are calculated and the equipment for the system operation is selected. During the research, parameters of LNG transportation through a low-pressure pipeline were determined, by which the lengths of sections with a single and two-phase flows were calculated. For calculations, a number of equations from hydraulics and thermodynamics were used. Based on the results obtained, equipment for the vapor phase removal from the vertical section of the pipeline was selected. To determine the economic effect from application of the proposed technology, the calculation of the costs for installation and maintenance of the LNG unloading system was done. These costs included the expenses on the purchase, installation and maintenance of a vacuum pump, a technological pipeline and a receiver. In the end, these costs were compared with the reduced costs for LNG transportation by a cryogenic pump.
